The NHS is under particular pressure this winter, and is providing advice on how people can use its services most effectively, through a “Think: who can help best this winter?” campaign, focusing on five key public health messages:
1. Stay warm
2. Keep well
3. Look out for others
4. Look after your mental health
5. Help and support is available
The campaign is supported by an online advice booklet. Click here to download
The pressure on the NHS will be at its most acute during six days of strike action from 7am on Wednesday 3 January to 7am on Tuesday 9 January – the longest period of industrial action to date. During this time, it is vital for members of the public to use services wisely:
- use NHS 111 online as the first port of call for any urgent health needs
- only call 999 or attend A&E if there is a life-threatening emergency
- continue to attend any NHS appointments as planned, unless contacted in advance to reschedule.
