A small ceremony was held at Tatham Fells Old School before the September parish council meeting. It was to declare the official opening of the nearby Platinum Steps, on the footpath to Lowgill, completed by local volunteers in June to mark the Queen’s jubilee, with material and financial assistance from Lancashire County Council. Tatham footpath volunteers have been busy in the Old Moor Road area, cutting back vegetation to prevent it obscuring finger-posts and ensuring that stiles don’t get overgrown and difficult to use. Tatham footpath volunteers have installed new Public Footpath finger-posts at four roadside locations along Ringstones, Craggs and Silly Lanes, where the old posts had disappeared or fallen over because the timber had rotted at ground level.
